The court extends the custody of 15 arrestees in the Pathibhara cable car dispute

Following the Taplejung District Court’s seven-day prison extension, police have begun a follow-up investigation into 15 members of the ‘No Cable Car’ group who were arrested on Saturday in Phungling.

According to Inspector and Information Officer Bibek Basnet of the Taplejung District Police Office, the inmates are being looked into for rioting and criminal disturbance. He went on to say that the probe complies with Sections 285 and 63 of the National Penal (Code) Act 2017, which forbid criminal disruption and rioting, respectively.

Mitra Lingden, 48, a permanent resident of Hilihang Rural Municipality-6 in Panchthar who presently resides in Arjundhara Municipality-11, Jhapa, is among the people detained, according to the police. Additionally, they detained Eman Rai, 22, of Phidim Municipality-11, Panchthar, and Bibek Limbu, 23, of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Sunsari. They also arrested Nirmala Baral (Darnal), 30, who currently resides in Arjundhara Municipality-11, Jhapa, but was born in Athrai Rural Municipality-7, Tehrathum. Nabin Pomo, 45, of Athrai Tribeni Rural Municipality-1, Taplejung, was also taken into custody by the police.

Tularam Tamang, 58, a permanent resident of Gramthan Rural Municipality-6, Morang, who resides in Sundar Haraicha Municipality-10, was also taken into custody by the police. Additionally, they detained 39-year-old Hari Limbu from Urlabari Municipality-1, Morang, and 19-year-old Juran Rai from Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-3, Sunsari. They also arrested Sunita Kerung, 40, who currently resides in Phidim Municipality-1 but was born in Phalelung Rural Municipality-8, Panchthar. Birkha Bahadur Tamang, also known as Arjun, 32, of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-2, Sunsari, was also taken into custody by the police.

Anup Subba, 32, of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-20, Sunsari, and Bishesh Subba, 19, of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City-10, were taken into custody by the police. Yogendra Lawati, 51, a permanent resident of Miklajung Rural Municipality-5, Panchthar, who resides in Ilam Municipality-7 at the moment, was also taken into custody. They also detained Iksha Limbu, 20, a permanent resident of Shivasatakshi Municipality-2, Jhapa, who currently stays in Birtamod Municipality-2, and Niha Chemjong, 21, of Arjundhara Municipality-4, Jhapa, for additional investigation.
