A welfare fund for climbers has been announced by Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation.
He announced the creation of a welfare fund for social security and mountaineering promotion while congratulating climber Phunjo Jhangmu Lama and other mountaineers in Gorkha on Sunday.
Lama was honored in the Chumnubri Rural Municipality of Gorkha’s felicitation function for breaking the record of 14 hours and 31 minutes to climb Mount Everest.
Other mountaineers, including as Yukta Gurung, Nanu Maya Gurung, Diki Lhamu Lama, Nangsel Chhodon Lama, and Mingmar Tshering Lama, were also honored by Minister Pandey.
