KP Oli, the chair of the UML, has been appointed prime minister; his swearing-in is set for Monday

KP Oli, the chairman of the CPN-UML, has been formally named as Nepal’s prime minister.

Oli was named prime minister on Sunday by President Ram Chandra Paudel in compliance with Article 76(2) of the Constitution.

The president asked for the creation of a new administration by 5 PM on Sunday, in response to the dissolution of the cabinet headed by CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

In retaliation, Oli made his prime ministerial claim on Friday night, backed by 166 members of parliament. At Sheetal Niwas on Monday, the swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to occur.
