Dhangadhi Metropolitan Announces Rs 2.56 Billion Budget for FY 2025/26

Dhangadhi Sub-Metropolitan City has unveiled a budget of Rs 2.56 billion (2,560,466,000) for the upcoming fiscal year 2082/83 (2025/26). This marks an increase of Rs 376.2 million compared to the current fiscal year 2081/82 (2024/25).

According to the city administration, the budget prioritizes skill development and employment fairs, women entrepreneurship markets, and night markets. The city will also continue several ongoing flagship programs, including the “Specialist Ward Health Clinic,” launched three years ago, along with:

  • Community School Educational Quality Enhancement Program
  • Clean Dhangadhi Campaign
  • Greenery Promotion Program
  • Illuminated Dhangadhi Program to support night-time market activities

Mayor Gopal Hamal emphasized that these programs will continue as part of Dhangadhi’s long-term vision for sustainable urban development.

Over 133,000 Benefited from Ward Health Clinics

As of mid-May 2025 (Jestha 2082), the Specialist Ward Health Clinic has provided medical services to 133,875 individuals. Under the greenery initiative, 16,056 saplings have been planted and nurtured within the metropolitan area.

Public Participation in Waste Management

The Clean Dhangadhi Campaign will continue to engage the public in waste management. So far, 198,802 individuals have participated in this initiative. The collected waste is being processed and recycled.

Additionally, the city will continue its effort to identify and support people with disabilities by providing free assistive devices.

Budget Breakdown for FY 2025/26

Of the total Rs 2.56 billion:

  • Rs 1.38 billion is allocated for recurrent (operational) expenses
  • Rs 1.18 billion is set for capital expenditures

Sources of Revenue:

  • Rs 547.9 million from internal income
  • Rs 506 million from revenue sharing
  • Rs 990.9 million from the federal government (intergovernmental transfers)
  • Rs 112.2 million from the provincial government
  • Rs 333.2 million from previous year’s savings

“Hamro Dhangadhi Hami Banauchhau” Campaign Continues

During the municipal assembly held on Saturday, the city presented its policies and programs under the ongoing campaign “Hamro Dhangadhi Hami Banauchhau” (We Build Our Dhangadhi), reaffirming its long-term vision to transform Dhangadhi into a city of prosperity.

Free Ambulance and Maternal Health Services

Under its ongoing “Save Mothers” Program, Dhangadhi has provided free ambulance services to 1,034 individuals and home-based healthcare services to 4,568 new mothers in the past three years.
