On Wednesday, medical students received their first degrees from the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS).
An important milestone in the provision of indigenous healthcare education in the nation’s distant Karnali Province was reached when 30 students attended the first graduation ceremony of the Jumla-based institution.
Although 58 students were qualified to attend the graduation ceremony, most of them were unable to do so because they were preparing for the Public Service Commission exams, while others had personal obligations, according to Rector Dabal Bahadur Dhami.
Thirty students received degrees from Prime Minister and KAHS Chancellor KP Sharma Oli during the convocation ceremony. During the convocation ceremony, the KAHS granted degrees to 18 BPH students, seven DMS students, and five MDMS students.
During the ceremony, five exceptional students received the Chancellor’s Gold Medal. Renu Kumari Singh from BMS, Srijan Neupane and Dipendra Joshi from BPH, as well as Sushil Shahi and Bed Kumar Chaudhary from MDMS, were the recipients.
Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Oli stated that the administration is committed to improving the efficiency of the KAHS in order to deliver high-quality healthcare and education services.
“It is a matter of happiness that the people of Karnali have begun to receive high-quality healthcare facilities in their own location,” stated Prime Minister Oli. In addition, PM Oli stated that the government is dedicated to expanding the academy’s services and has already started the construction of a 100-bed hospital in Rakam, Karnali.
“Your diligence and commitment have enabled today’s accomplishment.” the prime minister remarked, urging the students to support the nation’s health services. Now, use this achievement to provide the public with high-quality healthcare.
PM Oli added that in order to fulfill the aspiration of the people in all 13 districts of the provinces of Karnali and Sudurpashchim to obtain high-quality healthcare, stakeholders must act responsibly. PM Oli, Health Minister Pradeep Poudel, and Prof. Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha, the vice-chairperson of the Medical Education Commission, were among those present at the convocation ceremony. PM Oli also officially opened the KAHS academic building after the convocation ceremony.
