
Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli informed Parliament about his official visit to Spain starting today. He is scheduled to depart this evening to attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, organized by the United Nations, which takes place once every decade.
The high-level conference will be held in Seville, Spain, with participation from heads of state and government officials, similar to the UN General Assembly.
Departure Schedule
Prime Minister Oli is set to fly from Kathmandu at 6:00 PM via Qatar Airways, with a stopover in Doha. He will arrive in Madrid early tomorrow morning.
The delegation includes 21 members, such as Nepal’s Ambassador to Spain, the Permanent Representative to the UN in New York, and secretaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, and the Prime Minister’s Office. His chief advisor and personal aides will also accompany him.
Day-wise Itinerary of PM Oli’s Spain Visit
Day 2: Ashar 15 (June 29, 2025) – Arrival in Seville
- Arrival in Seville around 4:00 PM
- Delivering a keynote address at the closing session of a plenary organized by civil society groups
- Scheduled bilateral meeting with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez at 5:00 PM
- Attend state banquet hosted by the King of Spain for heads of state and government
Day 3: Ashar 16 (June 30, 2025) – Conference Participation
- Attend opening session of the UN conference
- Deliver speech at an event hosted by the Gates Foundation on the future of development cooperation
- Bilateral meeting with President Alar Karis of Estonia at 1:00 PM
- Address the conference as Chair of the LDCs (Least Developed Countries)
- Meetings with:
- Egyptian PM Dr. Mostafa Madbouly
- Portuguese PM Luís Montenegro
- UN Secretary-General António Guterres
- Participate in official dinner hosted by the Spanish PM
Day 4: Ashar 17 (July 1, 2025) – LDC Leadership
- Chair a high-level meeting on LDC development
- Deliver a keynote at a joint side-event titled
“Empowering Resilience: Climate Smart Financing for Sustainable LDC Graduation” organized by Nepal, Bangladesh, Laos, and UNRC - Address a second side-event titled
“Mobilizing Financial Resources for Water and Sanitation” jointly hosted by Nepal and Burundi
Day 5: Ashar 18 (July 2, 2025) – Return to Madrid
- Return from Seville to Madrid
- Participate in the Nepal–Spain Business and Investment Promotion Forum in the evening
Day 6: Ashar 19 (July 3, 2025) – Community Engagement
- Meet with officials of the Real Madrid Football Club
- Interact with the Nepali diaspora in Spain
- Depart for Doha at 10:45 PM
Return to Nepal: Ashar 20 (July 4, 2025)
- The delegation will return home on July 4, 2025 (Ashar 20, 2082).
