A patient in Gaur died as a result of an inter-hospital commission scheme, and the hospital operator fled

The death of a young guy in Gaur, Rautahat, while treatment has exposed a significant case of blame-game between public and private institutions while managing a medical emergency case.

It was discovered that Provincial Hospital Gaur was unable to give the necessary care at the provincial hospital, thus it sent a patient who should have been referred to Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital to a private hospital for treatment. Shortly after the private hospital’s surgery, the patient passed away. Following the incident, the hospital operator and the participating doctors have been evading capture.

Lalu Adhikari, 18, of Gaur Municipality-3, complained of stomach ache on Saturday evening, so his family took him to the district headquarters, the Provincial Hospital in Gaur, for treatment. Following preliminary testing, Adhikari’s bowel had ruptured, according to the hospital’s medical officer, Dr. Ghanshyam Thakur.

Dr. Thakur ought to have referred the patient to Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital in Birgunj because Provincial Hospital Gaur lacks the necessary capabilities for intestinal surgery. But instead, he sent the patient to Gaur Central Hospital, a Gaur-based private hospital.

Around 8:00 p.m., the patient was brought to Gaur Central Hospital. The surgery was carried out by a team at the private hospital under the direction of Dr. Pankaj Sah. But after a while, the physicians suggested that the patient be taken somewhere else.

The relatives contacted Dr. Ghanshyam Thakur of the Provincial Hospital once more as the patient’s health worsened. He recommended transporting the patient in an oxygen-filled ambulance to the National Medical College in Birgunj.

Adhikari was brought to the hospital at approximately 11 p.m., and the medical staff declared him dead.

Investigation demanded by relatives, hospital operator fleeing

Gaur Central Hospital’s Drs. Firoz Anjum and Pankaj Sah have not spoken with the patient’s family since the patient passed away. Devendra Adhikari, the uncle of the dead, has called for a probe and action against the perpetrators, alleging that the operation was conducted with extreme negligence. Additionally, they believe that the patient was referred to the private hospital for commission by the provincial hospital.

Dr. Murari Thakur, the Provincial Hospital’s medical superintendent, informed Republica that it was grave negligence for the hospital to send the patient to a private facility while Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital was the appropriate referral.

It is alleged that Dr. Firoz Anjum killed the patient by performing significant procedures without the necessary training or experience. The fact that the young man’s death was brought on by the carelessness of an inept physician has infuriated the locals.

Serious questions have been raised over the cooperation and carelessness occurring in Gaur’s medical facilities in light of the patient’s death and the physicians’ disappearance.
