Ram Baran Yadav, the former president, advocates for environmental conservation

Concern has been raised by former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav about the Terai-Madhesh’s transformation from a food and water basket to a site for resource exploitation.

Yadav spoke at the Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Cultural Center in Janakpurdham on Sunday in support of Nepal Republic Media’s (NRM) “Ma Nagarik, Ma Banauchu Nepal” campaign, saying, “The effort of Nepal Republic Media to address the growing frustration among the youth coupled with natural protection, climate change, and greenery is praiseworthy.”

“When the state and government show no interest in these concerns, it is responsible journalism for the media to step up and establish a connection between the state, entrepreneurs, and young people,” he said.

“I was born into a farming family in an inner Madhesh village. As a national leader and a native of the Terai Madhesh, I was able to comprehend the life and nature of the mountains as well as the resources, life, and legacy of the rivers and streams. Nevertheless, he stated that everything is currently being destroyed. I’m quite concerned about the devastation of mountains, the melting of glaciers, and the escalation of climate change. Seeing future generations struggle even more as a result of climate change is heartbreaking.

“We lose everything when everything is taken advantage of and destroyed. To ensure that our generations have access to clean air and water, we must preserve nature,” he stated. He went on to say that while he does not oppose progress, he does stress that it not be done carelessly or without direction. Development should minimize harm while being orderly and respectful to the environment.

“The rain cycle has been disrupted for decades,” former President Yadav said in reference to climate change. Rainfall patterns have evolved. These days, unexpected, intense rains cause landslides and floods that uproot villages and ruin crops.

“These days, Madhesh experiences winter cold waves with temperatures so high that some people even die,” he continued. The intense heat is as intolerable in the summer. In a grave position, Madhesh, which was once a paradise, is suffocating.

He stated that Parliament should be consulted on the pressing matter of disbanding the President Chure Terai Madhesh Conservation Development Board. He stated that since the trees of Madhesh had already been devastated, the forests of Chure shouldn’t have to endure the same fate.

Young students were encouraged to participate in the program and pay attention to the development and change initiatives being carried out by the provincial administration in Madhesh Province by Dr. CK Raut, the chairman of the Janamat Party.

He explained that a number of initiatives have been put in place to address Madhesh Province’s poverty and illiteracy rates, which are thought to be the worst of all the provinces. These include establishing IT parks, raising literacy rates, and offering coding instruction to up to 10,000 individuals who have finished higher secondary school or are seeking a degree.

“One needs to seek education that opens doors to jobs. “A degree by itself is insufficient,” Dr. Raut stated.

According to Dr. Raut, citizens should cast informed ballots when choosing their local representatives because the local government is in charge of trash management. He said, “We should all learn to be responsible citizens and pick up the trash together.”

Many hospitals are operating unlawfully, according to Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh, who called for their methodical operation in accordance with standards. Political parties still support unlawful activities in spite of this. Since climate change has an impact on human health, cardiologist Dr. Om Murthy Anil underlined the importance of group efforts to protect the environment.

NRM Managing Director Samriddhi Gyawali stated at the program that addressing the effects of climate change requires teamwork.

According to Anand Bagaria, Managing Director of Nimbus Holdings, the effects of climate change should be viewed as opportunities.
