Minister Gurung, the government spokesperson, said that the absence of policy and methodological changes along with the nation’s transformation has impeded development processes as he opened the Department of Postal Services’ “One Local Level, One Post Office” establishment program at the ministry on Sunday.

He claimed that although nonviolent revolutions have brought about political progress in Nepal, structural changes have been overlooked.

He claims that postal services are an important and ancient service that requires technological adaptation and modernization. “Postal service policies will now change,” Minister Gurung declared. He added, “Making postal services technologically friendly is something that our ministry is always sensitive to.”

Minister Gurung instructed the department to start the service reform process at the Dillibazar General Post Office during the program. Additionally, he called on all local postal workers to make postal services more citizen-focused.

“While other local post office workers should make sure that their services have an impact in their particular areas, the central Dillibazar General Post Office should start increasing the effectiveness of postal services” he stated. Minister Gurung declared, “I’m always willing to assist with your efforts and lead from the ministry.”

Acting Secretary (Joint Secretary) Gajendra Kumar Thakur spoke at the ceremony and stated that the postal services have been accomplishing their goals to the fullest extent possible in spite of their limited resources and capabilities. Additionally, he stated that the ministry is getting ready to modernize postal services in accordance with Minister Gurung’s vision.

The Minister was briefed by Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni, Director General of the Department of Postal Service, on the current status of the Dillibazar General Post Office, as well as the difficulties and plans of action for enhancing local postal offices.

Similarly, Minister Gurung stated in another context that the previous government’s invitation of political instability was enough to sabotage the nation’s growth and governance process.

According to Minister Gurung, the current administration is attempting to resolve the chaos caused by the previous one.

He claimed that in order to quickly restructure vital sectors, the government needed to enact ordinances. Additionally, Minister Gurung cautioned against deceiving the public by asserting that the government’s aspirations to implement revolutionary work were the reason it was overthrown.

Despite being the nation’s permanent government, he claimed that the bureaucracy has become overly politicized, which is why the present administration is working to make systemic changes. He added that the government is drafting the laws required to create a regulatory body and to control and punish individuals engaged in cooperation fraud.
